REFLECTING ON YOUR PATH AND SEEKING GOD'S PURPOSE: A PERSPECTIVE FROM HAGGI

Week of 6/16/2017 entry from Bible Promises for You Men’s Group: Decisions

Scripture:  Haggai 1:5

Now this is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways.

Thought:  Reflect on how you have lived your life, and more importantly how you will live you life from this day forward.

Application:  ~~~ left blank in 2017 —

Response:  Father, thank you for where you have place me right now, today!  Please engage with me as I make decisions in life.

Looking back Today (2025):  As I reread Haggai this moring my mind is flooded with the thought that prayer is not just for when you are in times of need.  In verse 9 we are reminded that we are to be building a house for the Lord… at all times.  Perhaps try rewiring your thinking with me.  When I begin to ask for something in prayer, I want to to include the words, Lord, what would you have me do.

Haggai 1:9 ➡ “You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why?” declares the Lord Almighty. “Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with your own house."

  1. It’s sometimes hard to remember to pray except for when we need something and bring our worries to God. I pray that we all have a consistent relationship with God and constant communication, not just in times of need.

  2. I've found that when I just think of his name throughout the day there a better version of myself presents himself to the world. I guess this is suggesting that just keeping Him close is in itself a prayer!
