BE BOLD IN YOUR ACTIONS. PICK FAITH OR FEAR!

Week of 6/2/2017 entry from Bible Promises for You Men’s Group: Assurance

Scripture: 2 Timothy 1:12

On this account I am suffering these things; but I am not ashamed, for I know him in whom I have believed and am confident that he is able to guard what has been entrusted to me until that day.

Thought:   Trust in the Lord with anything.  Be bold in your actions and protect your relationship with Jesus.

Application:   Seek Jesus for my personal life.

Response:   Father I pray that your son Jesus influences and glorifies my life so that other may know him as I do.

Looking back Today (2025):  In this same chapter, in verses 6-7 we are reminded “...to stir into flame the gift of God that you have through the imposition of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice but rather of power and love and self-control.”  Furthermore, we are reminded to not be ashamed of our relationship with the Lord.

I am thankful to have the courage to pray with my family in restaurants while holding hands.  While I don't care who is watching, I hope they are!  I pray that the “lookie-loos” see Him through us.

  1. This makes me think of how the Bible interprets itself... Such as Hebrews 10:24 says let us consider how we mamaypur each other along towards love and good deeds.
    Corinthians 14:1
    Says pursue love
    Eagerly desire spiritual gifts
    Especially that you may prophesy.
The simplicity of being a child of the most high God.... Is this if we just focus on introducing the world to our beloved father and reconciling everyone unto him so they aren't destroyed.
our faith combined with the fact that Holy Spirit wants these people more than we want to give them to him should always be on our minds and our hearts.
Knowing the Father's heart and knowing that eternal life in John 17:3 is knowing god the one true God and Jesus Christ. Just like when you fall in love with a person you want to tell the whole world about it. So always nurture your relationship with your first love. And Steward your own heart. Purify yourselves... And beware of the bait of Satan which is the spirit of offense. Grace and peace be multiplied to you all.

    1. Thank you for participating Michael V. The relationship that we share has allowed me to see, as you have said here, that the "simplicity of being a child of the most high God" is both a blessing and a challenge. When you think like a child the stress of a daily life seems to melt away (blessing). However, the challenge as a man is to be more like Him!

  2. Bring all of your worries to Jesus because he hears and understands our concerns and wants to be here for us. When we are facing something tough, we should ask Jesus for his support, because he has been through pain just like us and persevered, so we can too.

    1. Agreed... It takes courage to ask for help even when it is in silence with Jesus. When you lay it at his feet, it helps to give you perspective and determine what it is that you actually need.

  3. For readers to ponder on and pray on…

    …Meditation for the Day:
There are two things that we must have if we are going to change our way of life. One is faith, the confidence in things unseen, the fundamental goodness and purpose in the universe.

The other is obedience: that is, living according to our faith, living each day as we believe that God wants us to live, with gratitude, humility, honesty, purity, unselfishness, and love. Faith and obedience—these two will give us all the strength we need to overcome sin and temptation, and to live a new and more abundant life.

    Prayer for the Day:
I pray that I may have more faith and obedience. I pray that I may live a more abundant life as a result of these things.

    1. Obedience... you shared a lot there in how challenging it is for followers to be obedient!

Personally, humility jumped off the page at me and reminded me of a lesson I was once taught. It was as follows. Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less often. When I am actively thinking about how to serve my family, or serve others in some way, I quickly become a better man. When I'm only thinking about myself... implosion!
